Contract settings
Set contract identity, drafting references, dates, renewal, payment terms, and governing law.
Open the contract from the Projects Hub, then choose Settings. Use General, Drafting, Terms & Commercial, or Sources to reach the relevant controls. Sources and parties explains source attachments.
Changes require Contributor access or higher in both the workspace and project, with active Platform and Autopilot Contracts licenses.
General
Set Name to the title readers should see across the workspace. Code is an optional short reference. Use Description for a longer explanation of the agreement's scope.
Status records the whole contract's lifecycle: Draft, In Progress, Review, Approved, Needs Update, or Archived. This is separate from a clause's workflow status and approval. Approved and Archived contracts are read-only for contract changes. To resume editing when your access permits it, use the contract header's status control, choose Draft, and confirm. Waiting for an Autopilot run to end does not remove this status restriction.
Use Classification to record the content's sensitivity as Public, Internal, Confidential, or Restricted, or clear it to Not set. This label does not grant project access. AI monitoring records whether monitoring is enabled for future AI-supported review flows; it does not start an Autopilot run.
When sources are linked, Grounding sources shows the linked count and a preview of up to five available source records. Choose Manage sources to open the Sources tab and inspect the full paginated list.

Drafting
Language selects the language used for drafting and review. Search by language name, local name, or code, then select a result. Typing into the search box alone does not select a language. Use the clear action to remove the selection, or select another result to replace it.
Arbitration institution records the organization chosen to administer arbitration, a way to resolve disputes outside court. Search by institution name, code, or city. Use Country filter with a two-letter country code to narrow the results. Clear the search or country filter if the institution you need is missing from the results. Select the institution, check its displayed details, or clear the selection if it should not apply.
Use Contract context for the business situation, negotiation position, required clauses, and jurisdiction concerns the draft should address. These notes support drafting; review the resulting clause text separately.
Choose Save settings. If Sorena cannot find a selected language or arbitration institution, it returns you to Drafting. Select a current item from the list and save again.

Terms & Commercial
Write Contract summary as a plain-language account of the purpose, parties, and main commercial terms. The summary is separate from the clause text.
Dates and term
| Control | What to record |
|---|---|
| Effective date | When the agreement takes effect |
| Execution date | When it was signed |
| Expiration date | When it ends |
| Term type | Fixed term for a defined duration, Perpetual for an ongoing term, Until terminated for a term that ends on termination, or Other |
Leave an unknown date blank. Check dates against the agreement before saving; entering them does not change the wording of the contract.
Renewal
Choose None when there is no automatic renewal, Evergreen for continuing automatic renewals, or Capped when the number of renewals is limited. Use Not set when no choice has been recorded.
Enter Renewal period as a positive whole number and a Unit, such as 12 and Month. Available units are Day, Week, Month, Quarter, and Year. Complete both parts of a duration, or clear both when removing it.
Max renewals is available only for Capped renewal. Enter a positive whole number for the maximum number of renewals. When changing away from Capped, clear an existing maximum first so an incompatible value does not prevent saving. A blank maximum does not document a numerical cap.

Notice, payment, law, and value
| Control | What to record |
|---|---|
| Termination notice | The advance notice a party must give to terminate; enter a positive whole number and time unit |
| Payment due | The time allowed to pay after an invoice is issued; enter a positive whole number and time unit |
| Country code | The two-letter governing-law country code, such as GB or DE |
| Jurisdiction | The relevant court, state, province, or legal jurisdiction |
| Total value | A non-negative monetary amount, such as 250000.00 |
| Currency | A three-letter currency code, such as EUR, USD, or GBP |
Use both a number and a unit for notice and payment periods. To remove a period, clear its number and choose No unit. Use both an amount and currency to make a value understandable. Country and currency entries are shown in uppercase. Correct incomplete codes, invalid amounts, or duration errors reported when saving.

Save, cancel, and recover
Save settings becomes available after you change a value and your access allows editing. It stays unavailable while saving or when nothing has changed. Switching tabs keeps your unsaved edits.
Choose Save settings once, wait for confirmation, and reopen Settings to check the saved values. Cancel closes the dialog; if you have unsaved changes, read the discard confirmation and keep editing if you still need them.
If saving fails, keep the dialog open and read the message. Check the saved values before retrying because some details may already have saved. If the contract is locked, return it to Draft from the header when appropriate. An active Autopilot run can also prevent changes; check its progress before retrying.
