Create and review contracts
Start a contract from a template or file, draft its sections, review clauses, and export a copy.
Use a contract workspace to keep the draft, parties, source material, clause reviews, and risks together. You need project access and Contracts access in your workspace. Changes require contributor access or higher; readers can inspect the contract and download available exports.
Create a contract
- Open the Projects Hub, select the project, and choose New artifact, then Contract.
- Enter the contract name. Add a reference code and description if useful, then choose Continue.
- Choose an optional starting source. Select a Template from the catalog or a Drive file already in the project. You can create the contract without a source and add one later.
- Choose Create contract. Sorena opens the contract workspace; creating the record does not itself write the clauses.
If Sorena reports that the contract was created but its source could not be attached, open that contract and add the source from Sources. Do not create a second contract to fix the missing attachment.
Add sources, parties, and drafting context
Open Sources and choose Add source. Choose Template or Drive file, select one item, check Selected source, and choose Add source. Use Open file in drive to inspect a file. Check processing warnings before asking Autopilot to use it; a failed file needs attention in the project Drive.
Use a source's delete button only when it should no longer ground this contract. Read the confirmation before deleting it.
Open Parties, choose Add party, and set the role, kind, display name, and contact details. Link a project member or business unit where applicable, then choose Save party. Existing parties can be edited. The business-unit selector also provides New unit, Edit unit, and signatory management for the selected unit.
Open Settings to record the business context and drafting choices under Drafting. General contains the name, code, status, classification, and monitoring settings. Terms & Commercial contains dates, renewal and notice periods, payment terms, governing law, and value. Set the recurring review cadence under Review, then choose Save settings. Check saved values before relying on them in a draft.
Build the section tree
- Open Body and choose Add section.
- Enter a title and choose Parent: Top level for a main section, or an existing section for a subsection. Add the optional clause category, obligation owner, and summary.
- Choose Create section, then select the section in the outline.
- Choose the section-body action, write or paste its clause text, and choose Save section body.
Expand nested sections in the outline to read their children. Use the section actions to edit the heading and classification, edit its body, or Move up and Move down. Moving changes ordering; the heading editor does not change an existing section's parent.
Delete section removes the selected section. Its confirmation warns that child content, comments, reviewers, and risks may also be removed. Check the entire branch before confirming; export a copy first if you need to retain the text.
Draft or review with Autopilot
- Choose Autopilot in the header.
- Choose Automatic (recommended), Import an existing contract, Draft a new contract, or Review risks only. Import requires at least one source file.
- Enter optional Guidance. Keep Review the contract for risks enabled if you want a risk review after drafting.
- Open Source files and overrides to choose files or contract templates and supply notes about the parties, business context, or governing-law country.
- Choose Start Contract Autopilot. Follow the live progress and return to the body, parties, settings, and risks to check the result.
While Autopilot holds the contract lock, editing controls can be unavailable. Open Autopilot to see the active run rather than starting another. Use Stop when available to request cancellation. After a failure, read the message, correct the sources or guidance, and use the offered retry or Run again action. Inspect saved results before repeating a run.
Copilot opens a conversation with the contract as context. Use it when you want to ask a question or guide a specific revision.
Review clauses and risks
Select a section to read its text, workflow status, reviewers, discussion, and risks. Use the reviewer control to assign project members, and leave comments explaining missing wording or requested changes. Reviewer assignments and the clause's approval are separate records.
Use Approve or Reject below the clause when your access permits it. Check the visible result after saving. Read the current approval and discussion before changing an earlier decision.
Open Risks to inspect findings across the contract or for a selected section. Read the finding, affected wording, evidence, and suggested action before revising the draft. Use the available filters to narrow a long list. Activity in More contract actions shows the contract's recorded changes.
Export or delete the contract
Choose Export to download Markdown, Word, or a structured export in the available format. A clean document export contains the title, sections, and section content. Use the structured export when you need workflow data as well.
Contributors can also Save Markdown to Drive. Set the destination path and collision policy before saving. Overwrite can replace an existing destination; choose Version suffix when you need a separate copy. Check the save result before leaving.
To remove the contract, open More contract actions, choose Delete contract, and read the confirmation before confirming. This permanently deletes the contract and its sections, parties, sources, comments, reviewers, and risks, and removes its placements in management systems. Download anything you need to retain first. If a save or export fails, keep the workspace open, read the message, and retry the failed action. Use Refresh when the displayed record needs reloading; ask a project admin if your access has changed.
